Muxara macOS App Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Muxara(“Muxara”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the free Muxaraapplication for macOS (“the app”). It applies only to the Mac app. For our website and online converter, see our website Privacy Policy.

Summary

Video and audio conversion happen on your Mac. We do not upload your source or output media to Muxara through the app.
The app does not include Muxara accounts, analytics, or advertising trackers.
The optional Assistant uses Apple Intelligence on your device. It may process file names and encoding settings you provide in chat - not your media files themselves.
Opening Help or these legal pages in your browser is the only routine network use initiated by the app.

Scope

This policy covers the Muxara macOS app distributed through the Mac App Store (or other channels we designate). It does not govern muxara.com or the paid cloud converter. If you use both, each product has its own privacy profile.

What we do not collect

The app is designed for local use. We do not operate servers that receive your media files, conversion queue, or presets from the app. We do not sell personal information or use your data for marketing. We do not embed third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs in the app.

Data processed on your Mac

The following information stays on your device unless you choose to share it with us (for example, by email) or open a web page:

Media files you select for conversion, editing, or preview - processed locally by bundled tools (including FFmpeg) and our Matroska libraries.
Encoding settings, presets, and queue statestored in the app's data directories.
Security-scoped bookmarks so the sandboxed app can reopen folders you authorized. Bookmark data is stored locally (for example in app preferences).
Language preference if you choose a fixed app language instead of following the system.
Assistant chat history, if you use the optional Assistant - stored locally as part of your session.

You can delete this data by removing files from your Mac, clearing chat in the app, or uninstalling the application.

Optional Assistant (Apple Intelligence)

The app may offer an optional Assistant to help adjust encoding settings using natural language. When available and enabled on your Mac, the Assistant uses Apple's on-device intelligence frameworks (for example Apple Intelligence on supported hardware and macOS versions).

When you use the Assistant, the app may provide Apple's systems with:

Your chat messages and summarized conversation history
Context about your current workflow, such as file names (not file contents), selected tracks, preset names, and encoding options

This information is processed on your Macby Apple's systems. It is not sent to Muxara servers. Apple's handling of this data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and applicable platform terms. You may need to enable Apple Intelligence in System Settings; availability depends on your Mac model and software version.

Muxara does not use your Assistant conversations to train our own models.

Optional network use

The app does not require an internet connection for conversion. If you choose to open Muxara Help or follow links to this policy, our terms, or open-source notices, your browser will connect to https://muxara.com. We do not perform background uploads of your media or settings to Muxara.

Notifications

With your permission, the app may show local notifications when a conversion completes. Notification content is generated on your device and does not include your media.

Mac App Store and Apple

If you obtain the app through Apple, Apple may collect information related to downloads, updates, and optional diagnostics under Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not receive your media through Apple's distribution process. Crash or analytics data shared with Apple - or with us if you opt in to share diagnostics with developers - would not include your video or audio content.

Information you send us

If you email [email protected], we receive what you include (such as your address, message text, and optional attachments). We use that only to respond and maintain reasonable business records.

Retention

On-device data - kept until you delete it or uninstall the app.
Support email - retained as long as needed to handle your request and for legitimate business records.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you (primarily support correspondence). To exercise these rights, contact [email protected]. For data stored only on your Mac, you can delete it directly on your device.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information to us by email.

International users

Muxara is operated from the United States. If you contact us from another region, your email may be processed in the U.S. On-device processing remains local to your Mac.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app or legal requirements change. We will post revisions on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
