Muxara macOS App Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the free Muxara application for macOS (“the app”) provided by Muxara(“Muxara”, “we”, “us”). They apply only to the Mac app. For our website and online converter, see our website Terms of Service. By using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Summary
- The app is free and processes media locally on your Mac.
- You must have the legal right to the content you process. Illegal or infringing use is prohibited.
- The app bundles FFmpeg and other open-source encoders. You are responsible for patent and licensing obligations that may apply to your use of certain codecs.
- The optional Assistantuses Apple Intelligence; Apple's terms apply to that feature.
- The app is provided “as is” with limited liability (up to USD $50 for free use).
Scope and agreement
These Terms cover the MuxaramacOS app. They do not replace Apple's terms for App Store distribution. If you download the app from the Mac App Store, Apple's standard licensed application end user license agreement also applies between you and Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content; Muxara is solely responsible for the app and support we provide.
License to use the app
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app for personal or internal business purposes on Mac computers you own or control. You may not copy, modify, or distribute the app except as permitted by law or by open-source licenses that apply to components included in the app (see Open Source & Third-Party Software). You may not reverse engineer the app except where applicable law or those open-source licenses expressly allow.
Your content
You retain ownership of media and other content you process with the app. You represent that you have all rights necessary to use, convert, and output that content, including copyright and any contractual restrictions.
You agree not to use the app to:
- Process content you do not have the right to use, or that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights of others
- Violate applicable law, including laws relating to illegal content, export control, or circumvention of technical protection measures (DRM) where prohibited
- Distribute malware or attempt to compromise systems through files you process
Local processing
The app converts and edits media on your device. We do not guarantee that every file or setting combination will succeed, that output will meet a particular quality standard, or that a given container or codec will play on every device. You are responsible for verifying results before relying on them.
Codecs, patents, and legal compliance
The app includes software capable of encoding and decoding formats such as H.264, H.265/HEVC, AV1, VP9, MP3, AAC, and others. Some formats may be covered by third-party patents or require licenses in certain jurisdictions or use cases. This section is not legal advice. You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of the app and its output complies with applicable patent, copyright, and regulatory requirements.
Third-party and open-source software
The app bundles and invokes third-party software, including FFmpeg (GPL) and libebml/libmatroska (LGPL), as described on our Open Source & Third-Party Software page. Your use of those components is also subject to their respective licenses. Muxara's own application code is not offered under those licenses except as required for included components.
Optional Assistant (Apple Intelligence)
If you use the optional Assistant, it relies on Apple's on-device intelligence services. Apple's terms and privacy practices apply. Muxara does not control Apple's systems and is not responsible for Assistant output, availability, or accuracy. See our Mac app Privacy Policy for what context may be processed on your device.
Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MUXARA DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MUXARA AND ITS OPERATORS, AFFILIATES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP IS LIMITED TO FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (USD $50), BECAUSE THE APP IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS; IN THOSE CASES, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Muxara from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the app, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
Updates and termination
We may update, change, or discontinue features through App Store updates or new releases. We may stop offering the app at any time. You may stop using the app by uninstalling it. Sections that by their nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive termination.
Export control
The app includes encryption and codec functionality that may be subject to export and import laws. You agree to comply with applicable export, re-export, and import regulations and not to use the app where prohibited.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, you must stop using the app.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in the United States, unless applicable law requires otherwise. You consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
